Winterhay Lane

New build residential development

Earlier dewatering activities on this site had resulted in a quantity of material being unsuitable for use on site and of such a high moisture content that transport by tippers would prove difficult. Hayward were called in by G:Works to see if we could provide a solution.

We carried out a suite of geotechnical tests to determine if we could get the material to a state where it was able to be excavated and loaded into wagons and after presenting our proposal to the customer, we were appointed to carry out the soil modification works.

The site was very tight with limited space, as is often the case toward the end of residential sites, but we devised a safe and sensible method of work and deployed suitable plant & machinery to carry out the project.

After successful modification, the material was actually reused in landscape fill around the external areas of the development meaning that the customer was able to benefit from further savings of reduced disposal and import of replacement materials.

Careful planning, proper consideration of all stakeholders and a sensible approach to delivery meant that even with the very small working area, the project was a success.
